Following a 12-month consultation and pilot phase, the DBS has released new guidance for both standard/enhanced and basic check applications.

DBS Identity Check Guidance Has Changed – Here’s What You Need to Know
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) has launched new identity (ID) checking guidelines following a 12-month consultation and pilot. These changes affect both Standard/Enhanced and Basic DBS applications.
A 6-month transition period is now in place. The new guidance will run alongside the existing process until 1st November 2025.

What you need to do
- Review the new guidance as soon as possible.
- Assess your current ID checking processes and identify any necessary updates.
- Be fully aligned with the new standards before the November deadline.
